Woodrow( Allen) Chavous – United States Marine Corps. (Ret.)

Blythe, Ga.- Woodrow Allen Chavous went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 27, 2011 in the Golden Living Center of Augusta.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 4:00 P.M. from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend Fred Heard officiating.

Interment will follow in Passworth Cemetery.

Mr. Chavous was born in Augusta and lived his entire life in the Augusta area. He was the son of the late Woodrow O. and Betty L. Chavous.

Mr. Chavous was a 1972 graduate of Glenn Hills High School. He was a career military veteran retiring as  a Staff Sergeant after 21 years of service in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from Georgia Regional Hospital after over 16 years service due to a medical disability.

Survivors include: his daughter Leslie Dianne Chavous, his sister , Danny (Dianne) Chavous and  her husband Clarence Bowen all of Greenville, South Carolina,           his brothers Marvin Lester Chavous and his wife Charlotte of Nashville, Tennessee and Kenneth D. Chavous and his wife Judy of Chattanooga, Tennessee, his niece Katie Chavous Roddey and his nephews, Samuel Elliott and Joshua Adam Chavous.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Clarence T. Bowen, M. Lester Chavous, Kenneth D. Chavous, Kenneth R. Downs, Charles E. James, Tommy E. McGlohan and J. Douglas Seabolt.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
