William J. “Billy” Kirby
Augusta, GA – William J. “Billy” Kirby, 85, husband of the late Mary Inez Holmes Kirby, entered into rest Thursday, February 9, 2012, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 11, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Elder Lamar Willis officiating.
Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
Mr. Kirby, son of the late Junior Clifton and Elizabeth Cooper Kirby, was a graduate of Richmond Academy. He retired after thirty years as Chief of Publication with Fort Gordon. He later worked for several years with Public Safety for the Richmond County Board of Education and with the Georgia Theatre.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Willis.
He is survived by his sons, Cliff Kirby and his wife, Jeanie, of Augusta, and Carl Kirby and his wife, Ellen, of Lincolnton; his daughters, Cathy Alva and her husband, Rick, of Augusta, and Carol Holderfield and her husband, Mike, of Dearing; his grandchildren, Wayne Kirby, Dena Sims and her husband, Chris, Billy Kirby, Chrissy Braden and her husband, Martin, Alex Alva and his wife, Ashley, Adam Alva and his wife, Lilly, Nicholas Holderfield, and Brittany Holderfield; and his five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and sons in law.

The family would like to give special thanks to Lisa and Flo with Heartland Hospice for their excellent care.
Mr. Kirby was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather and he will be dearly missed.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 10, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
