William C. Kirkland – Retired NAVY/USPS
Hephzibah, GA – William C. Kirkland, 88, husband of the late Phyllis Ervin Kirkland, entered into rest Sunday, April 7, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 12, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Minister M. Jack Warner officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Minister Charlie Kirk officiating.
Mr. Kirkland, a native of Castleberry, AL, had lived in the Augusta area since the early sixties, and was the son of the late Joseph Clark and Lila Shipp Kirkland. He served his country as a Submariner in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired following twenty years of service as a Radio Operator having attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer, E-7. He was also retired as a letter carrier following twenty years from the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Kirkland was a member of Wildwood Christian Church where he served as an Elder, Bible Teacher and was instrumental in the building of the current sanctuary.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jennifer Stewart.
Mr. Kirkland is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda K. and Don Bourke of Hephzibah; his son and daughter-in-law, Steve C. and Debra Kirkland of Evans; his grandchildren, Jana Kirkland, Bradley Kirkland and his wife Judy; step grandchildren, Kim Edmonds, Heather Evans and Sandrine Johnston; great grandchildren, Jessica and Steven Kirkland; step great grandchildrem, Kieran Edmonds, Kelsey Edmonds, Collin Evans, Carter Evans and Stephen Johnston.
Pallbearers will be Steven Johnston, Jerry Titre, Paul Knox, Eliot Edmonds, Charles Evans and Jeffrey Boyles.

The family will receive friends Thursday, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
