Walter Brantley, Sr.

Augusta, GA – Mr. Walter Allen Brantley, Sr., 84, loving husband of 63 years to Ruth Garnto Brantley entered into rest, Thursday, August 11, 2011, at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 14, 2011 at 2:00 P.M., from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend Billy Atkins and Reverend Tracy Pressley officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Merv Jenkins, Harold Prescott, Robert Mills, Larry Fulmer, Neal Fulmer, Jason Fulmer, Billy Otts, Jimmy Rushing, Doug Hickson and Gene Bracewell.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Others survivors include: son, Walter Allen “Lenn” Brantley, Jr., and his wife Diane; daughter, Sharon Olivia Eubanks and her husband Paul; brother, Wayne Brantley; sister, Joyce “Cecilene” Powell and her husband J.B.; grandchildren, Kimberly (Dan) Durden, Rebecca (Ashley) Brown, Jonathan Eubanks, Jennifer (Jeremey) Roese, Matthew Brantley and Michael Brantley and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Brantley was born in Wrightsville, GA to the late Allen and Adeline Snell Brantley. He was a member of Fleming Baptist Church, Briar Creek Sportsman Club for 20 plus years and the George Walton Lodge 699. He was a Mason for 59 years. He was a US Army veteran and had retired from the Security Department at SRS.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the George Walton Masonic Lodge or the Fleming Baptist Church Building Fund.
