Viola Histand Myers

Hephzibah, GA – Viola Histand Myers, 91, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at the home of her son in Knoxville, MD. She was born on September 19, 1922, in Doylestown, PA, to the late Harvey and Martha Histand. She was a member of the Hephzibah Mennonite Church.

On June 9, 1945, she married Melvin G. Myers, who preceded her in death on May 22, 2003. She served the church with her minister husband in West Virginia and Georgia. For the last three years of her life she alternated living with her daughter in Virginia and her son in Maryland.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Claude Histand; a sister, Gertrude Histand; and two great granddaughters. Surviving are a sister, Miriam Histand, Albany, OR; a brother, Robert Histand, Perkasie, PA; a daughter, Linda (Steve)Shifflett, Weyers Cave, VA; and two sons, Allen (Edith) Myers, Knoxville, MD, and Timothy (Bonita) Myers, Keysville, GA; ten grandchildren, and 32 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 9, at Hephzibah Mennonite Church on Rheney Rd, Hephzibah, GA, from 6:00 – 8:30 PM. Funeral services will be held at the church on Monday, February 10, 2014, at 3:00 PM, with Pastors Glendon Eshleman, Larry Showalter, and Gerald Eshleman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
