Tommy Skillman

Sardis, GA – Mr. Tommy Skillman, 63, husband of Ida Malpass Bridges Skillman, entered into rest Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Georgia Regents Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 2, 2014, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, with Reverend Matt Shryock officiating.

Mr. Skillman, son of the late Obie and Grace Newman Skillman, was a native of Richmond County. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Lloyd Hendrix. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was self-employed as a tile contractor.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Lori McClain (Brian), of Alexander, GA, and Debbie Skillman (Freddie Taylor), of Waynesboro, GA; his grandchildren, Tyler Rodriguez, Brian McClain, Jr, and Britton McClain; the mother of his children, Joan Manchester, of Blythe; his brother, Obie Ervin Skillman (Sandra), of Augusta; his sisters, Annis Hall, of Grovetown, Beannie Chavous, of Augusta, and Hester Amerson, of Blythe; several stepsisters and one stepbrother; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Freddie Taylor, Bob Gibson, Kenny Summerville, J.D. Cox, Mary and WZ McClain, the Luna Family, and the Graig Family.

The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home.

  2. Ida, we are so sorry for your loss. Although new friends, we have come to love you both. Our hearts are heavy and our prayers are with you and the rest of the family. He was truly a good man with a big heart. So glad we had the opportunity to know him.
