Tom Cooper, Jr.
Millen, GA – Tom Cooper, Jr., 74, husband of 51 years to Sherley Mock Cooper, entered into rest, Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at University Hospital.
A memorial service will be held from the Millen Baptist Church, Friday, November 12, 2010, at 3:00 PM with the Reverend David Wheeler and Dr. Maurice Crowder officiating.
Mr. Cooper, a native of Burke County, was a son of the late John Thomas and Marie Blackburn Cooper, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army and was a well known Radio DJ. He was a member of the Millen Baptist Church. Mr. Cooper was also a well loved saxaphonist who played far and wide and for anyone who might ask.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Cooper.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Melody and Robert Oglesby of Millen, Ty and Candace Cooper of Mooresville, NC, Cary and Tara Cooper of Millen; a brother, David Cooper of Waynesboro; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sheila and Donnie Long of Hephzibah, Linda and Jerry Jenkins of Waynesboro; a sister-in-law, Martha Cooper of Waynesboro and a step-mother, Carol Cooper also of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Samantha Oglesby, Adam Oglesby, Kirstie Cooper, Christian Cooper, Cameron Cooper and Pace Cooper; one great grandchild, Trilan Dudley.
