Thomas E. W. “Watson” Chalker

Grovetown, GA – Thomas E. W. “Watson” Chalker, 89, husband of the late Inez Clark Chalker, entered into rest Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 17, 2012, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, with Dr. Michael Davenport officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Chalker, son of the late Aytch and Dillie Peoples Chalker, was born in Glascock County. He served in the United States Army in both World War II and the Korean Conflict where he received several decorations and a Purple Heart. He worked with the Civil Service for twenty years and retired as a Telephone Installer. Mr. Chalker was a Baptist.
He is survived by his daughter, Christine Dent, of Augusta; his brothers and sisters in law, Joe and Corine Chalker, and Talmadge and Mary Chalker, all of Gibson; his sister in law, Peggy Ann Chalker, of Wrens; his grandchildren, Terral Dent, Lorie Ash, and Tonia Story; and his great grandchildren, Derek Dent, Clay Dent, Amber Dent, and Tyler Dent.
Pallbearers will be Terral Dent, Clay Dent, Steve Ash, Derek Dent, Tyler Dent, and Troy Hadden.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 16, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

  1. Tonia and Christine, I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Chalker was a wonderful man. One of the most caring that I have ever met and I am truly honored to have known him. He is at home with his Lord now you can take comfort in knowing that. We love you and are here for you.
