We are forever changed by the people who influence and impact our lives the most. “Ms. Sylvia” as she was fondly called by everyone who knew her was such a person. Born June 14, 1927, in Masardis, Maine, she was the last surviving of 22 children – all from the same mother and father!

A quiet, gentle spirit, she was also a strong, courageous, independent woman. As a military wife, these traits were most prevalent when, often by herself, she packed up her household and children and relocated across the United States and various foreign countries. She was the solid foundation of her family always instilling those core values of God, family, and country.

A devoted wife, mother, mentor, and friend, Ms. Sylvia was an inspiration to all she knew and met. She evoked kindness, love and joy in all she did and was happiest when she could serve others. She loved to cook, was an avid reader, enjoyed ceramics and bowling. A great listener, she could impart words of wisdom at the most appropriate time. A beacon of God’s light, her life was a shining example of putting others before self, humility towards others, and true compassion. She lived her life for Christ, graced this earth with her laughter, wit, and servanthood, and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Witkowski, and her son and daughter in law, Stanley and Cheri Witkowski.

She is survived by her daughter. Lilly W. Owens (Mark A.), of Grovetown; her grandchildren, Nathan C. Witkowski, and Miranda B. Malcom (Aaron); her niece, Melanie Tykowski, of NJ; and her nephews, Bruce Trexler, of DE, and Gary Trexler, of VA.
