Spencer Leland Ready, Sr.

Blythe, GA  – Spencer Leland Ready, Sr., 82, beloved husband of 59 years to June Newman Ready, entered into rest Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at  Piedmont Augusta (former University Hospital) in Augusta, Ga.

Memorial services will be held Monday, March 21, 2022, at 3:00 o’clock, from the Chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, with Reverend Bruce H. Allen officiating.

Mr. Ready, son of the late Leona Williams Ready and L. P. Ready, was born in Aiken, SC. He was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church in Waynesboro, GA,  of which he sang in the choir for many years.

He was a Veteran of the US Navy and Burke County Commissioner from 1982-1985. He was also a Mason and Shriner, a member of Lodge #274 and past member of Waynesboro Shrine Club. His hobbies were hunting and fishing and just enjoying being outdoors. He also loved working in his garden and growing collards for family and friends for the holidays.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Spencer Leland “Lee” Ready, Jr. (Leasa), Jennifer Jackson (Chuck); his grandchildren, Spencer Leland Ready lll, (Katie), Anna Flake (Drew), Campbell Ready (Jillian), Darbi Jackson, Payne Jackson; his great grandchildren, Raylee Flake, Briggs Flake, Spencer Leland Ready lV; his sister, Gwen Florence.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 21, 2022, from 2:00 o’clock until time of service at the Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Vision Fund at Rosemont Baptist Church, 522 US-25, Waynesboro, GA 30830.

  1. Mrs. June, Lee and Jennifer and extended family we are sorry to hear about Mr. Spencer. Just saw him
    in the choir a few weeks ago and thought things were better. We are praying for peace and comfort

  2. June, Lee and Jennifer I was sad to ready of Spencer’s passing. I know I haven’t seen you all in a long time but I think of you all often. We all had some great times when we were younger. I know that you all are truly sad right now and sheading lots of tears but one day you will not be so sad and the memories of him will bring lots of smiles. I know that he is looking down on your family and watching over you all. Please know that I am praying for your family that God will help you through this sad time.
