Sonia Ann Brizius

Augusta, GA – Sonia Ann Brizius, 68, wife of the late Walter Leon Brizius, entered into rest Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016, at 3:00 PM from Burns Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverend Jerry Peele officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Brizius, daughter of the late Charles and Irene Isabel Morton, was born in Wymondham, Norfolk, Great Britain, United Kingdom. She worked as a Teacher’s Aide with the Richmond County Board of Education and was a member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheri Lee Brizius. She is survived by her sons, Troy Anthony Brizius (Sara Lawellin), Cincinnati, OH, and Glen Leon Brizius, of Augusta; her daughter, Anna Lenn Provost, of Augusta; her granddaughters, Haley Rene Provost and Abigail Nicole Provost, both of Augusta; her brothers, David Morton (Jill), Colin Morton (Brenda), and Crayne Morton (Janet), all of Great Britain, United Kingdom; her sister, Sue Tidd (David), also of Great Britain, United Kingdom; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Troy Anthony Brizius, Robert Joseph Brizius, Michael Joseph Brizius, David Martin Brizius, Jonathan Wayne Paschal, Robbie Todd Provost, Robert Joseph Caruso, and Dannie E. James, III.

If so desired memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 4, 2016, from 2:00 PM until the hour of service at the church.

  1. Sonia was the most beautiful soul I have ever met. She was beautiful both inside and out.
    Being her friend was truly a blessing. I thank you God for Sonia’s and my path in life crossing. Being friends with her has made me a better person. I will never forget her.
    I pray for her children and grandchildren who were her life. May God give you the strength to help you get through each day. Missing her will never get easier, but thanks to all your precious memories life will be bearable until you meet again in heaven.
