Shirley A. Friar

Augusta, GA – Shirley A. Friar, 69, wife of the late Thomas Eugene Friar, of Brown Rd, entered into rest Sunday, February 5, 2012, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 8, at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, with Bishop Leon Garvin officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Friar, daughter of the late Samuel McRollin and Vernell Pipkin Mason, was a native of Augusta. She retired as a Nurse from Trinity Hosptial.
She was preceded in death by her son, Troy Johnson.
She is survived by her son, Darrell Johnson and his wife, Tammy, of Vidette; her daughter, Teresa Riddle and her husband, Robert, of Grovetown; her brother, Steve Mason, Sr, and his wife, Patti, of Augusta; her brother-in-law Ronnie Friar and his wife, Gayle, of Hephzibah; her grandchildren, Lexie Johnson, Chandler Johnson, Michael Johnson, Samantha Mellinger and her husband, Caleb, Shelby Riddle, and Bailey Riddle; and special friend, Rita Prosser.
Pallbearers will be Steve Mason, Jr., Travis Mason, Stephen Smith, Lowell Prosser, Wendy Rosier, and Ronnie Friar.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 7, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

  2. Dear Family and Friends, I was sad to hear about the passing of Mrs.Friar.. I can remember her getting on my butt when I was younger.. But I am so glad I did get to spend some time with her a few months back. We enjoyed some laughter and some sad moments together. But they will forever be with me… God Bless the Family, and You have my Prayers as you go through this tough time.

  3. Shirley was one of my favorite cousins. She had a wonderful voice and a great sense of humor. My mother and Aunt Bonnie always enjoyed her visits. They would laugh for days about stories she would tell them. She will be missed. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

    I am so sorry, no one called so I just found out today. (2/25). So many things to say, if I could figure out where to start. Mama will be gone 1 yr. in April. Do I miss her, bet ur bootie I do. I have been exactly where ur today. Cry when u need too, but most of all don’t forget to remember the crazy, happy times, so laugh and smile too! There’s one crazy bunch all back together again, u know they’ve got to have the Lord really thinking, “what have I got myself into” ha-ha-ha
    So its just us kids left, so lets do them proud some more….
    I love guys, ill keep you in my prayers as I hope u will do the same.
