Sara Tanner Garner

Hephzibah, GA – Sara Tanner Garner, 88, wife of the late of Doc C. Garner, entered into rest Tuesday April 27th, 2021 at Keysville Nursing Home.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, May 2nd, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, with Rev. Richard Nevard officiating.
Mrs. Garner, daughter of the late David Arthur and Lessie Brown Tanner, was born in Greenville, SC, but was a lifelong resident of Augusta, GA. She was a graduate of Tubman High School in 1949, when it was still an all-girls school. Mrs. Garner was active in the Richmond County Republican Party. She was a resident of St. John Towers for 23 years, where she spent countless hours serving the residents of St. John Towers. In 2013, she was crowned Ms. St. John Towers.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Minton Tanner.
Survivors include her children Darryl DeLong Collins (Ralph) of Hephzibah, GA, Robert L. DeLong Jr. (Michelle) of Alpharetta, GA, and Richard Reagan DeLong Sr. (Marie) of Buford, GA; her grandchildren Kelly D. Carter (Brook) of Martinez, GA, Richard Reagan DeLong Jr. and David Tanner DeLong of Buford, GA; and her great grandchildren Robert Blake Barbin (Kirsten) and Daniel L. Payton (Callie) of Martinez, GA.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
