Sara Elizabeth Sheppard Wheeler
class=”alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-323″ title=”Sara_Wheeler_Photo.JPG” src=”https://www.chanceandhydrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Sara_Wheeler_Photo.JPG-150×150.jpg” alt=”Sara_Wheeler_Photo.JPG” width=”150″ height=”150″ />Augusta, GA – Mrs. Sara Elizabeth Sheppard Wheeler, 76, wife of Dudley Wheeler, entered into rest in the early afternoon on Monday, December 14, 2009, after a lengthy battle with cancer at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 17, 2009, at 2:00 P.M., from the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors, with the Reverend Burton Dixon officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Randall Gordon Wheeler, II, Chad Dalton, Patrick Dalton, Derek Dalton, Brian E. Lindsey and Steven Sheppard.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Mixed Sundowners, University Hospital and the Ladies Ten Pin Bowling Leagues.
Mrs. Wheeler was preceeded in death by her son Daniel Lawrence Wheeler.
Other survivors include her sons, Ronnie Wheeler and his wife Wanda and Randall Gordon Wheeler; grandchildren, Tracy Wheeler, Randall Gordon Wheeler, II and Candice Elizabeth Wheeler; great-grandchildren, Shawn Michael and Macie Jordon Ford; Brothers, Milton R. Sheppard, Gordon S. Sheppard and Lamar T. Sheppard; long-time friends, Joann Brassell, Mary Mutispaugh and Stella McManus.
Mrs. Wheeler was born in Kite, GA to the late Elzie Silas and Aubrey Tharpe Sheppard. She was a member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church and had retired from Wicks Lumber Company. She was the Director of the Augusta Women’s Bowling Association and a member of the WIBC and USBC.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
