Sanford (Jimmy) Campbell, Jr

Grovetown, GA – Sanford (Jimmy) Campbell, Jr, 79, beloved husband of Judy, entered into rest Thursday, December 29, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Campbell was the son of the late Sanford James Campbell Sr. and Dorothy Gracey Campbell. Jimmy was a born-again believer of Jesus Christ and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Jimmy and Judy were married for 57 years, in that time they were nearly never apart from each other, always doing things together with everyday offering some type of humorous adventure, especially after his retirement. Family and home were of the upmost importance to him. His grandchildren brought his life to a higher level of excitement.

Everything he accomplished was from hard work and he enjoyed it. Jimmy retired from Kroger after 30+ years as Meat Market Manger, he was a meat cutter by trade but loved to catch shoplifters, especially with the help of fellow meat cutter Gary Leboff.

Jimmy had a big heart for animals and made a home for many stray dogs and cats throughout the years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing word puzzles, listening to his records, cooking and eating and just being home. He loved going to Virginia to visit Judy’s family, he thought of them as his own. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his children, Sanford Campbell (Michele) and Katherine Williford (Stan); his sister, Gail Campbell; his grandchildren, Sarah Blackwell (Harris), John Williford, Ashton Campbell, Austin Campbell, and Johnny cat.

The family will receive friends, on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, 2502 Richmond Hill Road, Augusta, GA, 30906.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 11:00 AM from Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Pastor Sonny Serigney officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the grave.
