Ruth C. Knippenberg

Augusta, GA – Ruth C. Knippenberg, 90, passed away peacefully, at home, on April 14, 2022.  

She was a member of Stevens Creek Church South Campus. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold E Knippenberg. She was predeceased by her Sister, Pearl Batts, and Sister-in-law, Bette Mauch. Survivors include son, William (Charlene) Knippenberg; daughters, Nola Belger and Linda (Bob) Gordon; grandchildren, Sara (Brandon) Rumph, Todd (Pam) Knippenberg, Jessica Emily (Blake) Williford, Trey (Jamie) Gordon; and great-grandchildren, Caleb Rumph, Gabe Rumph, Addisyn Williford, Olivia Williford, Emmett Knippenberg and Ellie Gordon. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.  

Ruth and her husband Hal were originally from Cleveland, Ohio, having made their home in Augusta, Georgia, for the last 70 Years. Ruth dearly loved her family. She looked forward to making homemade pizza on Friday nights, for her family, for decades. She loved all God’s creatures and also sunflowers, birds, butterflies, and ladybugs.  

The family wishes to thank: Vera  Freed, Darry Hatcher, Pastor Tom Kalliokoski, Kathy Flanagan, and all from Trinity Hospice, for their loving care during Ruth’s illness.  

Funeral services will be held at Chance & Hydrick, on Richmond Hill Road, on Tuesday April 19,2022, at 2:00pm, with Pastor Brantan Treglown officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Augusta, Georgia.  

Pallbearers will be Brandon Rumph, Caleb Rumph, Gabe Rumph, Blake Williford, Todd Knippenberg, and Trey Gordon.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Stevens Creek Church South Campus, 3358 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, Georgia 30906, or Lake Park Baptist Church, 211 Millege Road, Augusta, Georgia 30904, or Dog and Cat Networking Agents, 210 Dorset Drive, Evans, Georgia 30809.

  1. Ruth was my grandma I never had growing up. She had a smile that would brighten up any day weather it be good or bad. From the first time we met she treated me like her own blood. She was a great pleasure to have her in my life for 20 something years. I love her so much! I know that she is a angel be side Jesus now and I look forward to seeing her again.

To the Knippenberg family, most especially Bill and Nola, my wife and I are so sorry for the passing of your mother but know that she is at rest and with peace in the presence of our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ. You were blessed with her long life and you shall see her again, whole in spirit and her eternal heavenly body. Fond memories will abound as love is eternal.   3. Ms Ruth was one of the nicest persons I have ever met. I loved her yard and her love for the birds she will be greatly missed a blessed friend and neighbor Heaven has gained an Angel 😇

  4. Although I have been away for many years, Mrs Ruth has always had a place in my heart. We spent many a Friday night eating her delicious pizza and playing cards. She was a kind soul and will be missed dearly. Billy, Nola and Linda, take comfort that Ruth is in a better place.
