Ronella “Ronnie” Braswell Hopkins Hobby

Augusta, GA – Ronella “Ronnie” Braswell Hopkins Hobby, 89, wife of the late Wensly Hobby, entered into rest Saturday, August 28, 2021, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 3, 2021, at 12:00 P.M., from the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors, with the Reverend Don Stone officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hobby, was the daughter of the late Vernon and Adrice Cooper Braswell. She worked for the Richmond County Board of Education where she retired as a Nutritionist. 

She was proceeded in death by her sisters; Linda Poole and Janeen Ogelsby, her brothers; Bobby Braswell and Ronald Braswell; and her first husband; Jerry Hopkins.

She is survived by her children; Micky Hopkins (Liz), Kaye Daly (Mike), Mell Hopkins and Dwayne Hopkins (Janet); her brother, Wayne Braswell; her sisters, Janette Skinner, JoAnn Grube and Gail Smallwood; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Lumpkin Road Baptist Church, 2540 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, Ga. 30906 or the Autistic Foundation of Georgia, 1551 Shoup Court, Decatur, Ga. 30033.

  1. Prayers and Comfort at this time. Ronnie was a great friend and Sunday School Teacher. I know she will be missed, but we know will all meet again one day.

  2. My sincere sympathy and prayers for Ronnie’s family. She was a great friend and will be missed but I know that one day I will see her again.
