Waynesboro, GA – Robert Edward Eubanks, Sr, husband of the late Ruth Walker Eubanks, entered into rest Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at Amara Health Care.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 8, 2019, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Dr. Bobby Eubanks officiating.
Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery.
Mr. Eubanks, son of the late Birdie Glass Eubanks and Louis Clarence Eubanks, was born May 7, 1930, in Jackson, TN. He moved with his family to Augusta in 1934 and graduated from Richmond Academy High School. He served in the United States Army for nine years and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked in the Retail Furniture business until his retirement in 1992. He attended Cokesbury United Methodist Church where he taught the Senior Sunday School class. He also taught Sunday school at the Salvation Army and attended Rosemont Baptist Church. He dearly loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings and loved going to church every Sunday that he could. He also enjoyed watching football and going on golf outings.
He was preceded in death by his grandsons, Aaron Luke Eubanks, and Matthew J. Eubanks; his brother, William Eubanks; and his sisters, Sarah McCormack, Irene Goodier, Helen Clements, and Betty Jo Hill.
He is survived by his sons, Reverend Dr. Robert Edward Eubanks, Jr (Gail), of Monks Corner, SC, Johnny L. Eubanks, of Townson, GA, and Marcus G. Eubanks (Tammy), of Waynesboro, GA; his grandchildren, Martha, Scott, Melissa, Brandon, Travis, and Zachary; and eighteen great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home.
