Richard “Dick” Lee Bryant

Augusta, GA – Richard “Dick” Lee Bryant, 85, husband of the late Grace Harris Bryant, entered into rest Tuesday, April 5th, 2016, at Select Specialty Hospital.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors.

Mr. Bryant, son of the late Eugene and Rebecca Elizabeth LeGrand Bryant, was born in Springfield, IL. He last worked as a contractor with Empell Corporation as an Emergency Planning Coordinator for Yankee Nuclear Power Company, New Hampshire. He retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years of service, having served previously in the United States Army. He was in World War II during the occupation of Japan. During the Korean Conflict he served as Tank Leader for the 7th Calvary Armored Division; and during the Vietnam War he was the Flight Engineer for the 554th Recon Squadron. During his military service he received numerous combat flight medals.

He served as Director of Burke County Emergency Management Agency and was a member of YAARAB Temple, of Atlanta; as well as past president of Tucker Shrine Club. He was a member of Grand Lodge of Georgia Free and Accepted Masons, a lifetime member of VFW Post #649 and American Legion Post #205. He was also crew member of National Box Car Association 40/8.

He was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers, of which he was the youngest.

He is survived by his sons, Fred Eugene Bryant, of Augusta, and Richard Lee “Ricky” Bryant, Jr, and his wife Peggy Lane Bryant, of Longview, TX; his grandson, Scott E. Bryant and his wife, Brittany, and their two children, Cameron and Jack, of Longview, TX, and his grandson, Reid L. Bryant, and his two children, Riley and Carter, of Bossier City, LA; his stepson, Greg Greene, and his wife, Connie Faye Greene; and his grandsons, Christopher Richard Greene, and Justin Christopher Dover.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
