Phyllis Paulette Howell

Augusta, GA – Phyllis Paulette Magbee Howell, 70, loving wife of Sterling Edward Howell, entered into rest Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at 4:36 PM.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 17 2021, at 10:00 AM from Fleming Baptist Church with Reverend Pat Latta officiating.

She was born in Augusta, GA, to the late Eugene and Mary Bartlett Magbee. She was a member of Fleming Baptist Church where she served on the Mission Team that traveled to West Virginia to help the less fortunate. She enjoyed working with the children, sharing the love of Jesus with them. Before joining Fleming Baptist Church, she was a member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church. There she was the Nursery Director and a member of the Eternally His Group that traveled to many places spreading the word of Jesus. Paulette was a school teacher for over 40 years. She taught at Hillcrest Baptist School, Temple Baptist School and Cokesbury United Methodist Preschool. She also ran an in home daycare for many years.

Other survivors include her daughter, Christina McCraney (John); her adopted daughters, Amanda Burgess (Buddy) and Sheila Hollomon; her grandchildren, Miranda McCraney and Malori McCraney, Tony Burgess (Amy), Brandon Burgess (Tara), Zachary Burgess (Khrystal), Nicholas Burgess and Brianna Burgess and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Fleming Baptist Church, 3027 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, GA 30906.

The family receive friends on Saturday at the Church from 9 AM until the hour of service.

  2. For over thirty years we worked ,laughed,cried,shared thoughts and prayed for family and friends together.
    She was an angel on earth and now in heaven. My dear friend was always there for my family and me.I will dearly miss talking with her. Gail L. Beckett
