Philip Wayman Thornhill

Augusta, GA – Philip Wayman Thornhill, 76, husband of the late Joyce Horton Thornhill, entered into rest Monday, October 22, 2018, at University Hospital.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, October 28, 2018, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Pastor Tom Mims officiating.

Mr. Thornhill, son of the late Ariel Thornhill and Geneva Boone Thornhill, was the owner of Professional Drug Testing of Georgia. He was an LPN and the first male nurse to graduate from the University Hospital School of Practical Nursing in 1961.

He is survived by his children, Leah Anne Perry (Derrell), of Girard, Michael Philip Thornhill (Stephanie), of Ft Wayne, IN, Lorie Lynn McKinley (Derek), of Brooksville, FL, and Christina Lynn Skelley (Brian), of Augusta; his brother, Don Thornhill (Ann), of Grovetown; his sister, Elaine Purtel, of TX; his grandchildren, Seth McKinley, Mariah McKinley, Matthew David Perry, Ashley Kettler, Brian Skelley, Jr, Nathan Thornhill, Courtney Shepherd, Nicholas Thornhill, Olivia Smith, Brooke Thornhill, Lilly Labounty, and Bruce Labounty; six great grandchildren; and his special friend, Elaine Mims York.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 28, from 1:00 PM until the hour of service at the funeral home.
