Perry Lee Sweeney

Augusta, GA – Perry Lee Sweeney, 64, beloved husband of Mrs. Carol Patterson Sweeney, entered into rest on October 6, 2020, at his residence.

A time with family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 9, 2020, from 12:00 until 2:00 P.M. with a private funeral service to follow in the chapel of Chance & Hydrick, with the Reverend John Raborn officiating. Perry would prefer you come as you are and dress casually.

Mr. Sweeney, a native and lifelong resident of Augusta, and unofficial self proclaimed,  “Mayor of McBean”, was the son of the late George Sweeney and Margaret Birchfield. He was baptized at Hillcrest Baptist Church and was a graduate of Butler High School in 1976. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, work on the farm, and ride his horses. He enjoyed making people laugh, dressing up like Santa and riding his horse KW around the neighborhood.

Mr. Sweeney was preceded in death by his son, Dustin Sweeney; and his siblings, Shannon Newsom and David Sweeney.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, Adam Sweeney (Lauren Potocik); his mother-in-law, Margie Thompson (Dewey); his brother, Gerald Sweeney; a sister, Ginger Bryant; and his grandchildren, Madison, Morgan, Gavin, Layla, Kevin and Scarlett.
