Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors this Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. Dwayne Carter, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Augusta, officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Portwood, a native of Lincolnton, was the son of the late Paul and Pearl Story Portwood, and had made Augusta his home for all of his life. He was a retired Truck Driver for ABF, he was quick witted, he loved to quail hunt, to fish and gardening. Mr. Portwood was the Guardian and Caretaker of Doc Savage Heating and Air Conditioning, “The Attack Uncle”. He was a Sweet Daddy, a Loving Uncle and a wonderful, devoted and longtime caretaker of his late wife. He was of the Baptist Faith and had attended Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter Connie Denise Portwood; his beloved pet dog, Bell; his niece, Debbie Savage Real and her husband Billy; and his nephew, Joey Savage and his wife Renee.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until the hour of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
