Parnell Joyner

Augusta, GA – Parnell Joyner was born in Pearson, GA, Atkinson County. He enlisted in the U.S. Army after High School. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He became a citizen of Augusta, GA, Richmond County, in 1971. He enrolled in Augusta Technical School night school and received a diploma in Instrumentation Technology in 1975.

He married Katherine Jewel Black in 1980. She was a lifelong citizen of Augusta, GA, Richmond County. She died January 1, 2014, leaving Parnell after 34 years of marriage.

Parnell leaves behind three stepchildren, Deborah Ann Daniel, John Dennis Black, Jr, and Patricia Usry. He also leaves behind many grand stepchildren and their children. He also leaves behind three sisters, Marietta Poole, Blackshear, GA, Lou-Ellen Carter, Douglas, GA, and Earlene Stansell, Norfolk, VA; and many nephews and nieces and their children.

Parnell remained in grief – sorrow – lonely – sad after his wife’s death until he died.

Parnell died Friday, January 2, 2015, at University Hospital. Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015, from Hillcrest Memorial Park, at 2:00 PM with Reverend Timothy Pendrey officiating.
