Ralph "Dak" McCall

Augusta, GA - Ralph D. “Dak” McCall, 79, beloved husband of the late Barbara T. McCall, entered into rest on Friday, May 8, 2026, at his residence. Funeral services will be held from Silvercrest Baptist Church, on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 1 o’clock with Pastor Chad Ligon and Pastor James Barnes officiating. Mr. McCall will lie in state in the church from 12:00 until the hour of the service. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Department. Mr. McCall, a native of Alabama, was son of the late Durwood and Daisey Smith McCall. He had retired from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Department as Lieutenant of the B Shift Road Patrol, serving for 40 faithful years. Through those years he built a reputation as a respected leader, and a true public servant. Prior to his time serving on the Sheriff’s Department, Dak was a proud US Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam Conflict. Dak loved fishing and was the President of his local fishing club The “Blue Line Bass Club”. Alongside fishing, during his retirement, he enjoyed cutting grass around his neighborhood, fixing up classic cars with his son, driving his dogs around in his golf cart, having breakfast with his fellow Sheriff’s Office retirees, and following his wife, Barbara, to each of his grandchildren’s respective events, including football games, soccer games, graduations, birthday parties, and everything in between. In addition to his parents, Mr. McCall was preceded in death by his son, Stuart McCall Sr.; and his sister, Nancy Martin. Survivors include his son, William McCall (Elise); grandchildren, Stuart McCall Jr., Olivia McCall, Caroline McCall, Shelby McCall; his sister, Sheila Herndon (Alan); as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
