Michael Warren Capper

Waynesboro, GA – Mr. Michael W. Capper, 62, entered into rest Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. The Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday afternoon June 3, 2023, at 1 o’clock from the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors, with Pastor Bob Matthews officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Michael was born in London England on August 20, 1960, a former resident of Augusta, Georgia, having made Waynesboro his home for the past seven years. After graduating high school Mike attended Nashville Auto Diesel College moved to augusta and started working for Ryder and also Meeks. Mike worked at CSRA Fleetcare for 25 years starting as a diesel technician, eventually becoming shop foreman, retiring in 2018. Don't believe there was ever a truck he couldn't fix, or anything else for that matter. He was always the go to guy when it came to fixing anything. He loved to talk, he never met a stranger and if he did they weren't strangers for long. Mike also enjoyed fishing and golfing. In his younger years he loved to ride dirt bikes. Nobody could tell you a story like Mike Capper could, even when he exaggerated a little, usually a lot. He loved the Dawgs the Braves and the Falcons. He was the best at making somebody laugh even when they were having a bad day. He loved his family, he was a devoted husband, father, brother and Papa and a great friend to so many that loved him. He will be greatly missed. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Bradley Warren Capper and Bette Gassman Mundell. The family would like to express their appreciation to Helping Hands Hospice for the special care they provided during Michael’s illness. Survivors include his beloved wife of 23 years, Kristi J. Capper, three children, Michael Bradley Capper, Britni Curd and Leah Corbett; eight grandchildren, Michael, Kaden, Chloe, Mason, Sadie, Brantley R.C and Reagan; one sister, Susan Even (Thomas); one niece, Christie Yeargan; two nephews, Matt Baxter and Ryan Baxter.
