Hephzibah, GA – Michael Shawn Brinkman, 56, beloved husband of Mrs. Janet Whitener Brinkman entered into rest on Friday, May 3, 2024, with his family by his side. Mr. Brinkman lived in Hephzibah, Georgia all his life. He was a true Hephzibah Rebel, where he played football and baseball. He earned a baseball scholarship to Middle Georgia College, playing under coach Robert Sapp. While playing college baseball he became a two-time all-American pitcher, and was drafted by the Astro’s, but God had a different plan. After attending college he became a dedicated first responder, working for Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Hephzibah police department, and Richmond County B.O.E. He was also a paper maker for Augusta Newsprint Co. for several years where he made many lifelong friends that he considered family. In July of 1991, he met the love of his life, Jan, in February of 1992, they became one, for the next thirty-two and a half years. Facing life’s obstacles and becoming stronger for each other after each passing storm. From this marriage they have a son Hunter Brinkman (Courtney) and a grandson Henry Brinkman who was the apple of his Pa’s eye. Between the two they had even developed their own special language such as adabadagitchieboo which means Pa and Grandma love Henry and Henry loves Grandma and Pa. (Henry always remember this special word between you and your Pa.) Henry now speaks to Pa at nighttime when he is praying to Jesus, and makes sure Pa knows Henry loves him. In addition to his wife and children, also left to grieve are his cousin and best friend, Jack Taylor, his father, Greg Brinkman and Mother, Ondrea N. Bedell. Mike’s death has left all of us with a hole in our hearts, that can never be filled. From his sarcastic banter that made a room light up to his unwavering love for his family. Mike Brinkman will be missed more than anyone could imagine. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 4:00 PM with Pastor Greg Glover officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 2:00 until the time of service at the funeral home. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Jack Taylor, JT Taylor, Bo Johnson, Dale Gibbs, Dwayne Flowers, and Paul Bennett.
