Judson Franklin Shirey Sr

Judson Franklin Shirey Sr., born January 10, 1935, in Wrens, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, in Augusta, Georgia at the age of 90. A pillar of strength, wisdom, and quiet kindness, Judson lived a full life defined by unwavering dedication to his family, community, and faith. His family was very important to him, and he cherished the community he lived in, always striving to make it a better place. He was the beloved son of the late Shedrach M. Shirey and Clara Peebles, whose guidance and love shaped the foundation of the man he would become. Judson was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Ann Read Shirey; his cherished son, Judson Franklin “Frankie” Shirey Jr.; his siblings, James Shirey, Gene Shirey, and Mildred “Millie” Goodwin; and his unborn grandchild, Baby Jerome. Judson’s legacy lives on through his surviving family, who will forever cherish his wisdom and kindness. He is survived by his sister Betty Ann Bales of Thompson, Georgia and brother Danny Shirey of Augusta, Georgia. His loving children: Cindy (Jimmy) Brinson of Harlem, Georgia, Gerald (Donna) Shirey of Augusta, Georgia, Laurie (Doug) Wright of Martinez, Georgia, Gale (Ashley) Key of Martinez, Georgia, Curt Mueller of Augusta, Georgia, and Jimmy Mueller of Columbia, South Carolina. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought great joy to his life. He is survived by 12 grandchildren: Curtis Mueller, Tiffany (Joe) Dupree, Felicia (Daniel) Freeman, James (Vicky) Mueller Jr., Ashlee (Nick) Parr, Miranda (Cesar) Valdez, Ashlyn Key, Jamey Brinson, Kristian (Robert) Jerome, Tyler (Kayla) Key, William Mueller, and Judson “Tommy” (Olivia) Key, and 26 great-grandchildren. His impact extended beyond his immediate family—his many nieces, nephews, and dear friends will remember him for his warmth and generosity. Throughout his career, Judson, often called “The Milkman,” dedicated himself to home delivery milk service for over 44 years, starting with the Borden’s Company in 1955 and eventually becoming self-employed, owning two trucks. After retiring in 2000, he began working in landscaping, followed by becoming a courier for the Department of Veteran Affairs. He treated his customers like family, and many of them looked at him the same. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
