Janice Morgan Weatherford “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 Janice Morgan Weatherford, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, September 27, 2025. True to her spirit, she met her illness with grace and strength, enduring with quiet bravery until the Lord called her home. A celebration of Janice’s life will be held in the Chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 12:00 noon, Pastor Ron Doss (brother-in-law) opening with John Sharpe officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the hour of service. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by those who knew her. Janice was born on December 20, 1939, in Hephzibah, Georgia to David and Leona McKenzie Morgan. She grew up in Hephzibah, a true small-town Southern girl surrounded by warm summers, starlit nights, and the sound of cicadas. Janice grew into a woman of quiet strength and devotion, always proud of her family. She built her career as a bookkeeper and dedicated more than 25 years to the Georgia Carolina Paralyzed Veterans, where she found purpose in serving others. Janice had a natural gift for caring for those in need, particularly individuals living with disabilities, and her compassion left a lasting impact on many. She was a devoted member of Fleming Baptist Church. Outside of work, Janice loved the simple joys of life. She was an avid reader, enjoyed working in her yard, and was an exceptional cook-her daughter fondly remembers that there was nothing she couldn’t make. Preparing meals for her family brought her joy, and if you ever left her table hungry, it was your own fault. Janice is survived by her daughter, Lynn Knapp (Richard), and son Mitch Kirkendohl (Gena); her sisters, Marjorie “Tootsie” Doss (Ronnie) and Anne Mincey; three grandchildren, Stephanie Goodhand (Charles), Kalie Lunz (Kenny), and Dallas Kirkendohl; seven great-grandchildren, Morgan Levengood (Clayton), Jackson Lyles, Bryar Lunz, Kinsleigh Kirkendohl, Knox Kirkendohl, Jaxon Kirkendohl, and Ollie Kirkendohl; and two great-great-grandchildren, Blakelynn Levengood and Joshlynn Levengood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Weatherford, and her six siblings: Marion “Bubba” Morgan, Wayne Morgan, Donald Morgan, Tommy Morgan, Dorothy “Dot” Lyons, and Judy Dennis. Janice loved her family with her whole heart and leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith that will be cherished for generations.
