Edward Charles Grissom

Edward Charles Grissom, age 85 was born in Anderson, MO on Sept. 16, 1938, and passed away on January 24, 2024, at the Charlie Norwood VA Hospital in Augusta, GA of sepsis. Ed was born to Charles Wiliam Grissom and Lillian Bennett. He is preceded in death by both parents, one brother, Andrew Grissom and two sisters Hazel and Mildred Grissom as well as his first wife of 45 years, Shirley Grissom. Mr. Grissom was survived by his second wife of 16 years Nancy C. Grissom of Hephzibah GA. Ed was a proud U.S. Army veteran and often talked of his army adventures. He served in Hawaii in the 25th infantry division nicknamed the “Tropic Lightning.” He was also a member of the American Legion in Augusta where he was instrumental in erecting the Veteran’s statue in Blythe, GA. His other passion was the union and he joined what he considered to be the “good fight” whenever and however he could. He belonged to several churches throughout his life and loved to play his accordion and sing whenever he could. Ed had 5 children. Lisa Ann passed away 5 months. Ed was blessed with several grands and step grands: Cody (Brooke) Dixon, Columbus, GA Stepheni O’Neal, Hawaii, Michael and Stephen O’Neal, Pleasant Hill, CA. Jacob, Ethan and Leila Grissom, Discovery Bay, CA. Amanda (Jeremy) Jones, Webb City, MO, Felicia (Dylan) Rodgers, Grovetown, GA. 3 step-grands of AL, Ryan (Sandy) Scott and Darren (Valerie) Scott and 4 Step grandchildren from Ga, Marie M. Strickland, George A. Barnes, Irene Nicole Bleifuss, Daniel A. Cadle, Amber M. Cadle and Melody E Cadle. Ed also had several Great-Grands and Step-Great Grands.
