John Cleveland Lucas

Sevierville, TN - John Cleveland Lucas, a resident of Sevierville, TN , born July 4, 1927, entered into rest July 8, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleve and Effie Lucas; his wife of 38 years, Sarah Louise Lucas; his oldest son, Jackie; an infant son; as well as siblings Robert Lucas, Albert Lucas, Estil Lucas, Sally Mae McClain, Peggy Kitchens, Olga James, Pat Self and Betty Scroggins. He is survived by his wife, Margaret H. Lucas; children, John (Tammy) Lucas, Jr of Augusta, GA, Cleon Lucas of Gonzalez, LA, Kimberley (Travis) Blitchington of Augusta, GA, Stephen (Stephanie) Lucas of Columbia, SC, Christy (Adrian) Fredericks of Martinez, GA, Linda McFarland of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Lexie Ellis of Metter, GA; and stepchildren, Brenda Davis, Patricia Browning, Gwen Sloan and Robbie Hatfield; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Lucas proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He retired from Richmond County, GA as a plumbing inspector. After retirement, he relocated to Sevierville, TN, where he worked at Dollywood for many years. There, he also spent much time serving at the Church of God Home for Children. He was a long-standing member of Fleming Church of God and Grace Redemption Church. He was an avid fisherman who loved gardening and adored his family. Most notably, his life was marked by a profound love for the Lord Jesus Christ. The family is accepting visitors July 16, between the hours of 6:00PM and 8:00PM, at Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, located at 2502 Richmond Hill Rd, Augusta, GA 30906. Service will be held at the same location, July 17, at 11:00AM, officiated by Pastor Donnie Jester. Graveside service will immediately follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be grandchildren Jeffery Lucas, Joshua Lucas, Jonathan Lucas, Justin Upton, Jordan Lucas, Logan Peck and Evan Peck.
