Mary Jowers Brinson

Augusta, GA- Mary Janet Jowers Brinson, 80, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013 at Agape Living Personal Care Home. Janet was born and raised in Augusta. Her years were spent as a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend Greg Glover officiating. Eulogist will be Mrs. Elmira Roulhac of Agape Living. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Janet was a former long-time member of Southside Baptist Church and a charter member of New Life Baptist Church. Through the years she served as a teacher in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, as well as a Girls in Action leader/director. Over the last five years she has been a leader of the daily Bible study and prayer time at Agape Living. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Walter E. (Dick) Brinson, her parents, William D. Jowers and Mary Harrison, her step-father, Roy (Pop) Harrison and her brother Vernon Jowers. She is survived by her sons John R. Brinson, Sr. and wife Judy of Augusta, Dennis N. Brinson and wife Rosita Nunez of Costa Rica, her daughter Melanie B. Love and husband Kenneth of Augusta, her grandchildren, Adam W. Love of Augusta, Mary Christine Brinson and Melanie R. Brinson of Costa Rica, Aimee Hall of North Augusta , Robert Brinson , Jennifer Bishop both of Augusta, Five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Many thanks to Agape Living Staff for their care and concern over the last five years. Extra special thanks to Elmira, Yasmine, Renee,Tamika and Melissa for their special kind of love and care shown to Mary Janet. Also, thanks to Gentiva Hospice for helpingmake the transition to her heavenly home as easy as possible. Pallbearers will be Wade Maddox, Billy Jowers, Lawton Wylds, Larry Hall Sr., Bobby White and Jonathan White. Memorial contributions may be made to the Agape Living Personal Care Home 1840 Phinizy Rd. Augusta, GA. 30906. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
