Henry "Jay" Eichfeld,

Appling, GA - Henry James "Jay" Eichfeld, Jr, husband of Hope Belinda "Linda" Eichfeld, entered into rest Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at University Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Pastor Chris Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Mr. Eichfeld, son of the late Henry J. Eichfeld, Sr, and Anna Clara Ellinger Eichfeld, was born in Camden, NJ. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He received his BA in Business Administration from Tulane University and his MBA from New York University. He spent 25 years in corporate life in various upper management positions. In 1989 Jay and Linda decided to relocate to Georgia to be close to her family and to fulfill their dream of owning a small business. Land Crafters was incorporated in 1990 and continues to this day. Jay was a member of Abilene Baptist Church for the last 13 years. He loved God and his Savior, Jesus Christ. He and Linda were baptized together in 1992. In the following 20 years his love for Jesus molded him into a Man of God, a title he wore with a serene humbleness. His love of God, family and country was evident to all who knew him. He suffered greatly for seven months with a terminal disease, waking each morning thanking God for one more day with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He and Linda were married for 40 years; he described his marriage as "a long conversation that ended too quickly." In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Tammy Eichfeld Tuccitto and her husband, Brian P.; his son, Tatum C. Eichfeld; his grandchildren, Daniel K. Amrhein and his wife, Carolyn, Ryan James Amrhein, Tawny Anna Tuccitto, and Joshua James Tuccitto; his brother, Robert S. Eichfeld and his wife, Lore, of New Hope, PA; and his sister, Charlotte A. Reinicker, of Hendersonville, NC. Pallbearers will be Tatum C. Eichfeld, Daniel K. Amrhein, Ryan J. Amrhein, Joshua J. Tuccitto, Jon Casey Sims, Donald Drummond, and Ronnie Sims. His family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Keaton, his nurse Heather, and the staff of Augusta Oncology for giving him seven months of life with his loving family. They would also like to thank Laura Shields, Toni Washington, and Desma Hines, nurses on the Palliative Care Unit at University Hospital. You are truly "stars" of the nursing profession.
