Muriel C. Cochran

Augusta, GA – Mrs. Muriel C. Cochran, 90, wife of the late Emory L. Cochran, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Westwood Extended Care in Evans, GA.

Funeral services wil be held from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors this Saturday, November 19, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. with the Pastor Ron Doss officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until the hour of the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cochran was a native of Hawkinsville, GA, and the daughter of the late Samuel and Alice Crenshaw. Muriel moved to Augusta in the 1950’s and attended Southside Baptist and Glenn Hills Baptist Churches. She joined her husband, Emory, and Vicky Boyd to form a gospel trio and sang at many churches and nursing homes in the Augusta area throughout the years – She was a member of the South Augusta Red Hats Society.

She was a woman of great faith in Christ-Jesus and was a Christian witness throughout her life. She was loved by all who knew her and was affectionately known to her grands and great grands as “Nana” and “Granny”.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her siblings, Mildred Sellars, Tina Williams and Sammy Anglin.

She is survived by her son, Darryl Lee Cochran; her daughter, Cherie Cochran Love; her sisters and brother-in-law, Colleen and Worth Clifton and Mavis Horton; her sister-in-law, Jane Cochran; her grandchildren, Heather Edwards, Jason Cochran, Chris Cochran and Lee Cochran; eleven great grandchildren; ten nephews and thirteen nieces.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Mayo, Frankie Horton, Terry Clifton, Ray Stalhman, and James Timmerman.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors and staff at University Hospital and the entire staff of Westwood Nursing Home for the care they provided Mrs. Cochran.
