Mrs. Elizabeth “Lib” Whitaker

Martinez, GA – Mrs. Elizabeth “Lib” Whitaker, wife of the late Perry Whitaker, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on

Friday, October 11, 2013 at home.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors this Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Don Stone and Pastor Ed Chavis officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Whitaker was born in Augusta to the late James Edward and Clara Holley Isdell. She was the former owner of the Delta Sandwich Shop, home of the “Perry Burger”. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 483, the Lumpkin Road Baptist Church where she attended the Ambassador Sunday School Class and she loved spending time with family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ann Jahnke; brothers, Carl Isdell, Bill Isdell, Jake Isdell and Allen Isdell; and her grandson, Allen Cunningham.

She is survived by her children, Elden Baughman, Cynthia (Reggie) Byrnes, Christine (Lloyd) Malcom Joyce Cunningham; and brother, Charles Isdell; and grandchildren, Billy Baughman, Shirley Cooper, Crystal Wingate, Mark Malcom, Jeff Malcom, Scott Malcom and Ruth Cunningham; as well as fourteen great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Richard Isdell, Allen Isdell, James Isdell, Charles Isdell, Mike Isdell, Tommy North and John Sheridan.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ambassador Sunday School Class and members of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 483.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to University Hospice for their care, compassion and devotion.

In lieu of flowers the family requested donations to University Hospice or to the Lumpkin Road Baptist Church Building Fund.

The family will receive friends this Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
