Mr. Melvin Love

Mr. Melvin Love, son of the late Essie Lee Love, was born March 17,1949, in Darlington County, South Carolina. He received his primary education in Darlington School District and graduated in 1969, from Rosenwald High School in Society Hill, SC. He worked at Klopman Mill in Society Hill, while attending high school. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969, where he served until 1985.

After his military career, he pursued a career in truck driving, where he drove tractor trailers for 10 years. Due to health issues, he retired and settled in Augusta, GA, where he resided until he departed this life.

Melvin was preceded in death by the following: sister, Lillie Mae Sharper, and a brother, James Love.

Left to cherish his memories: three daughters, a son, and a stepdaughter; Sharon Owens of Darlington, SC, Alicia Love, Melinda (Brandon Turner) Love, Anthony (Madoka Ikuta) Love, and Tiffany Hatcher, all of Augusta, GA; his best buddy, his grandson, Chase Gibson; his siblings, Cleveland (Gwen) Love of Farmville, VA, Shirley A. Thomas, Gloria McClain, and Martha Johnson of Darlington, SC.; Patsy (Roberto) Irizarry of Florence, SC, Carl Thomas of Darlington, SC, 18 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends, who will all miss him dearly.
