Mr. Claud “C.M.” Thompson

Augusta, GA – Mr. Claud “C.M.” Thompson, 82, beloved husband of 60 years to Mrs. Nancy Templeton Thompson, entered into rest on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at GRU.

Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors this Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at 2:00 P.M., with the Reverend Don L. Stone and the Reverend Ed Chavis officating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Thompson was born in Donalsonville, GA to the late Claud M. and Thelma Stewart Thompson, Sr.. Early in his childhood they moved to Laurens, SC where he graduated from Laurens High School. He has lived in Augusta since 1974 and was a member of Lumkpin Road Baptist Church.

In addtion to his parents, a brother, Danny S. Thompson, a Vietnam casualty, preceded him in death.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Sharon Green (Bob) of Renton, WA and Kay Matherson of Augusta; two sons, Thomas “Tommy” S. Thompson and James Christopher “Chris” Thompson, Sr., both of Augusta; five grandchildren, Christy Matherson McGowan (Michael), Sherri R. Matherson, Nathan A. Matherson, James Christopher “Chris” Thompson, Jr., and Courtney E. Thompson; six great grandchildren, Haley Cunningham, McKenzie Matherson, Emilee and Bella McGowan, Keller and Kash Pennington.

The family will receive friends this Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
