Mr. Brantley “Pop” Kuglar

Augusta, GA – Mr. Brantley “Pop” Kuglar, 79, beloved husband of Mrs. Shirley Kuglar, entered into rest on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Select Specialty Hopsital of Augusta.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors this Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Wayne Todd officiating. Entombment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr Kuglar was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta and was the son of the late George and Sara Clark Kuglar. He attended Richmond Academy where he was an All American lineman and placekicker for the football team. He went on to attend the Univeristy of Georgia where he lettered in football and earned a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry. Through the years he had worked at the Lily Tulip Plant in Augusta, at the Mobil Chemical Corporation of Charleston, SC, and he had retired from the City of Augusta where he was the Superintendent of the Lab in the Utilities Department. Mr. Kuglar liked electronics and collecting movies, to debate politics and his trips to Wal-Mart with his Buddy Luke. He was of the Baptist faith and had attended Lumpkin Road Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emmie Katherine Kuglar; his daughter, Laurie Lianne Kuglar; and his brother, Evertt Kuglar.

In addition ot his wife he is survived by his children, Brantley Eugene Kuglar (Debbie), John A. Kuglar (Debra) and D.W. Hadden (Jeannie); his daughter-in-law, Jessie Hadden; his sister-in-law, Nancy Kuglar; seven grandchildren, Dustin Hadden (Karley), Bree Kuglar, Elissa Carrasco (Rick), Steven Livengood (Cheyann), Cody Livengood, McKenzie Kuglar and Ashley Kuglar; four great grandchildren, “Papa’s Buddy” Luke Hadden, Wesley Hadden, Natalie Livengood and Paige Smith.

Pallbearers will be, Corey Poythress, Glenn Randolph, Allen Elliott, Matt Kirkland, Bubba Crosby and Danny Hardin.

The family wil receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the St. Judes Childrens’ Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, or to or to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX, 75231.
