Minnie H. Montgomery

Augusta, GA – Minnie Harris Montgomery, born November 2, 1924, went to be with our Lord and Saviour on April 9, 2017.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 12th, 2017, at 11:00 AM, from Hillcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Todd Wiggins officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Minnie was a loving mother with a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour. She taught SundaySchool for over 50 years and sang in the Adult Choir for many years at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Her faith and love for others has been manifested through her many friends and acquaintances.
Minnie worked for many years in retail sales with Belk, Pearle Vision, and Moomey Optical Services. She loved to cook for family and friends, sew, and fellowship with her family and close friends. “We will all miss her delicious pound cakes!”
The past six years she lived in St. John Towers. Her family wishes to express their appreciation for her many friends there, especially her lunch buddies. Minnie never met a stranger she didn’t love and enjoyed sharing stories of friends, families, and common acquaintances.
Her family also wishes to thank the staff on the 5th floor at University Hospital for their professional and caring service while there. Grateful praise goes to the staff of the rehabilitation wing at Westwood Nursing and Rehabilitation facility. Extra special thanks for the extra special care provided to Minnie and her family by the staff of Affinis Hospice who was with her through her transition to eternal life.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Radford; her father, Ernest Harris; her mother, Mamie Ruth Harris; her stepmother, Myra Harris; and her siblings, Frank Harris, George Harris, and Dorothy Harris Ellenberg.
She is survived by her brother, Bobby Harris (Judy); her son, Floyd Montgomery (Sherry), her daughter, Frances Noles (Robert, Jr); her grandchildren, Kathryn Crafts (Andrew), Stephen Montgomery (Lisa), Robert Noles III (Shelley), Laura Brown (Donald), and Lindsey Mintz; and her great grandchildren, Alden and Ella Crafts, Connor Montgomery, and Sebastian, Kathryn, and Robyn Brown.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Montgomery, Tim Montgomery, Robert Noles III, Aubrey Montgomery, Dr. Dustin Hawkins, and Keith Beckworth.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Friendship/Joy Sunday School class.
If so desired memorial contributions may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 3045 Deans Bridge Rd, Augusta, GA 30906, for the Prayer Room.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 11, 2017, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
