Melba Cannon

Augusta, GA – Melba Olivia Smith Cannon, 89, entered into rest Sunday, April 11, 2010, at the The Place at Martinez.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with the Reverend Robert Driggers officiating. Interment will follow in the Keysville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Barefield, Tommy Williams, Tyson Thompson, John Prescott, Chuck Smith and Darren Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Faith Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Cannon was born in Keysville, GA to the late Lon and Annie Mae Arrington Smith. She was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church, Faith Sunday School Class and the the Wild Women of Pine Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Beth Smith and her husband Jimmy of Hephzibah; son, Randy Cannon and his wife Tamara of North Augusta, SC; brother, Truman Smith and his wife Linda of Wrens; grandson, Clint Smith and his wife Dana of Hephzibah, two great-grandsons, Brett and Chase Smith; nephew, Paul Smith; neice, Vicki Neveu and her husband Raymond; special adopted daughter, Binnie Jones.
If so desired memorial Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Assocaition 1899 Central Ave., Augusta, GA 30904 or Pine Hill Baptist Church 4233 Old Waynesboro Road Hephzibah, GA 30815.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

  1. Beth, Randy, so sorry to hear about your Mom. I remember her as if it were yesterday. It has been many years since we all went to Southside
    church. I have thought about you and your Mom many times over the years. as well as Larry. Nellie Wood was my grandmother.
    You remain in my thpughts and prayers.

    Iam so sorry to hear about your mom
    I didn,t know until maxine called me
    last night.
    I spent so many good times at your home
    growing up and will never forget how
    loving your mom was to all of us.
    We only see each other in passing on
    the streets or something now, it seems
    but we will always stay best of friends.
    You are in my prayers.
    I have to work so I can,t make the funeral
    but I will be thinking of you.
