Mary “Cookie” Newman

Augusta, GA – Mary “Cookie” Newman, 74, wife of the late Ray B. Newman, entered into rest on Saturday, February 26, 2022.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend Jordon Clayton officiating.

Mrs. Newman, daughter of the late Helen Edmunds Dempsey and Hewew Dempsey, was born in Augusta, GA. She was a homemaker and a member of Dearing Full Gospel Church.

She is preceded in death by her sons, Benjamin Franklin Hill and Charles William Newman.

She is survived by her children, Mark Newman (Susie) and Susan Henson (Jonathon); her grandchildren, Benjamin Franklin Hill III, Derek Hill, Leslie Chance, Matt Newman, Emily Newman, Shawn Newman, Megan Landaverde, Brittney Molaud, Kaitlin Lariscy, Caleb Langford, Danny Langford, Blake Lewis, Brooklyn Lewis; her 20 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Theresa Dempsey, Wayne Dempsey, Nancy Sheppard, Bettie Nicholson.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 1:00 PM until time of service.

  2. Cookie I love you, I always have through the good and the bad. I know you are happy and well and You are telling Charlie about all his kids and grandkids. I know it is funny but I picture a family reunion when you walked through those gates with tears of joy. I love you and will see you again… Until then let your baby know how much we miss him, but he would be proud of all his kids. And now we all have another Angel watching over us. Love you Nan
