Mary Anderson Johnson

Evans, GA – Mary Anderson Johnson, 85, wife of the late Walter “Sonny” Edward Anderson, Sr., and the late Richard D. “Dick” Johnson, entered into rest Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Doctors Hospital.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at 11:00 AM from Wesley United Methodist Church, with Reverend Greg Porterfield and Pastor Dan Lewis officiating.

Mrs. Johnson, daughter of the late James Willis and Cornelia Elizabeth Moore Washington, was born in Blythe, GA. She was the owner of Anderson’s Florist and served as president of the Georgia State Florist Association, and the Georgia Teleflora Unit. She designed flowers in the 1992 and 1993 Rose Bowl Parade. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Augusta Amdoes, and she was the chairman of the Jeff Maxwell Library Drive. She was a past member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church and a charter member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she attended the Gillespie-Pathways Sunday School Class. She loved flowers, her family, friends, Wesley United Methodist Church, and all her friends at Washington Commons.

She was preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son, Eddie Anderson, of Rockledge, GA; her daughter, Susan Anderson Bone, of Evans; her grandchildren, Matt Anderson, Alison Bone Smith, and Renee Anderson Soles; her great grandchildren, Chase Oliver, Camden Oliver, Madison Smith, Kate Lee Smith, and Riley Anderson; and her sister, Effie Newman, of Evans.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gillespie-Pathways Sunday School Class, and the Wesley Gospel Singers.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Doctors Hospital.

They will receive friends Tuesday, April 24, 2018, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

  2. My mother Christine Scott thought so highly of your mother. She did the flowers for my sister Sandra’s wedding. I was so happy to get to visit with her at Wesley

  6. So sorry to hear of Mary’s death. Just found out on the internet. I delivered flowers for her from 73 to 74. What a fun time it was working with her, Peggy, and Joyce. I will cherish those good memories. Prayers and thoughts are with youall.
