Marvin Carl Overman

Martinez, GA – Mr. Marvin Carl Overman, 85, husband of Jacqueline Shurling Overman, entered into rest Monday, July 22, 2013, after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, with Reverend Michael Medlock and Reverend Raymond Brown officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Overman, son of the late Archie Fox and Martha Bunch Overman, was born in Augusta and attended Richmond Academy. He served in the United States Army. He retired from E.I. Dupont after 35 years of service in the Health Physics Department as an Inspector. He was a faithful member of First Advent Christian Church, the Adult Sunday School, and a former trustee. He was a longtime fan of Big Band music, especially Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians.
He was preceded in death by his brother Lee Overman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Carlene Johnson and her husband, Andy, of Aiken, SC; grandson, Justin Moser and his wife, Erin, of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; granddaughter, Lauren Moser; and sister, Martha Temple.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, Robert Shurling, Jim Shurling, Barry Shurling, Raymond Fehrenbach, Michael Badke, Jr., and good friend, Randy Turner.
If so desired memorial contributions may be made to First Advent Christian Church, 1263 Marks Church Rd, Augusta, GA 30909.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 23, 2013, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
