William Lewis Dozier

May 15, 1939 – November 5, 2025. William “Bill” Lewis Dozier, 86, of Blythe, Georgia passed peacefully at his home on November 5, 2025, surrounded by family. Son of the late Robert E. Dozier Sr. and the late Mary Beall Dozier Williams Bill was born in Sardis, GA, and was a lifelong resident of Blythe. Bill was a proud and devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Memorial services will be held from the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 1 o’clock with Reverend Thurman Norville officiating. Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 2 o’clock to 5 o’clock at the funeral home. A 1957 graduate of Hephzibah High School, he went on to attend Berry College before beginning a successful career, retiring as Senior Vice President of Sherman and Hemstreet Inc. Bill loved his community and participated in various civic roles, which included serving on the Richmond County Board of Education as President and former Mayor of Blythe. He was also an active Charter Member of Augusta Sertoma Club; served as Worshipful Master of Richmond Masonic Lodge #412 F&AM; President of Augusta Shrine Club; and in the Road Runner Unit, where crippled and burned, children were transported to Greenville, SC. Former member of the Scottish Rite. He was one of the founders of the Apartment Association of Augusta. He also served on many advisory boards within the CSRA. A man of strong faith, Bill was a lifelong member of Blythe Methodist Church, where he served in many roles over the years. Mr. Dozier is preceded in death by his father Robert E. Dozier Sr. and his mother Mary Beall Dozier Williams, and his brother Robert (Bobby) Dozier. He is survived by his wife, Joan; children Cindy Bonner (Steve), Lisa Brown (Lindsey), and Lane Dozier (Tara); grandchildren Amber Gutierrez, Chase Bonner, Clint King, Brett Sanner (Jared), and Laney Wilson (Zach); and great-grandchildren Kamryn, Kiley, Kolton, Karlee, Briar, and Weston; his brothers, Charles L. Dozier (Sissi), and J. Gary Dozier (Kim). Honorary pallbearers from members of the Masonic Lodge. Bill’s kindness, generosity and unwavering commitment to his community inspired a legacy of love and service.
