Stephen Mathis McClellan Augusta, GA – Stephen Mathis McClellan, 55, husband of Connie Crews McClellan, entered into rest Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Piedmont Hospital of Augusta. Steve, son of the late Marshall McClellan and Catherine Hall McClellan, was a lifelong resident of Augusta, Georgia. He was a graduate of George P. Butler High School. He attended Augusta College and Augusta Technical College. After college, he worked for Boral Bricks for over 20 years. During his time with Boral Bricks, he held several positions within the company, his last being a production scheduler. Steve grew up attending Calvary Baptist Church. Sports have always been a huge part of Steve's life. He spent many of his younger days playing football, basketball, and softball with his close friends. Steve was competitive to a fault, not just in the sports he played, but also in those that he watched. He loved golf, especially the tradition unlike any other, The Masters Golf Tournament. He was a die hard Georgia Bulldog fan, and college football Saturdays were his favorite. The greatest love of Steve's life was his wife, Connie. Steve met Connie at a Super Bowl party 32 years ago. From that moment on, they were inseparable. They were married for 27 years. Steve loved spending time with Connie and his friends at his favorite restaurants enjoying a good meal. He also loved making time for and gathering with the children who were like his own: Mallory Sexton (fondly known as “Scooter Poo”), Carter Petitt, Ryan Thurmond, Tanner Thurmond, Megan Vandenbulcke, Mitchell Petitt, Parker Petitt, Garry Fulcher III, and Dale Fulcher. In addition to his father, Steve was preceded in death by his brother, David McClellan. Steve is survived by his wife, mother, several aunts and uncles, many cousins, and a special group of friends he texted with each day. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 4:00 PM at the Chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors with Pastor Scotty Bedgood officiating. At the request of his family, Georgia Bulldog or Masters casual attire is requested.
