Sharon R. Morse

Evans, GA – Sharon R. Morse, 78, wife of Daryl Morse, entered into rest Saturday, June 21, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by family and friends. A Celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Wesley United Methodist Church of Evans, Ga (825 N Belair Rd, Evans, GA) with Reverend Greg Porterfield officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until the time of service. Sharon earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Olivet and applied her educational background in both teaching and as a medical technician. Her interests beyond the workplace were varied and included painting, scrap-booking, crafting, home decorating and singing in the church choir. Perhaps her favorite past time of all was a good game of Canasta with her friends from Newcomers Club. She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church and attended the Journeys Sunday School Class. Sharon recognized that the time spent experiencing life and the people she encountered was truly a treasure. She loved to play games and enjoyed an occasional win, but it was the joy of the time spent with others that was her greatest prize. Sharon loved her time with all the family and never missed a chance to tour a zoo with young ones on a hot summer day or go sledding down a steep hill on a saucer sled on a really cold Minnesota afternoon (two or three times no less. :) She was an expert at consistently losing a close game of Uno, Rook, or Candyland to a young niece or nephew, even when she squandered a big lead! Sharon was a splendid “swing-pusher” and always had time to play. She decorated countless Christmas cookies with nieces and nephews over the years. She was an outstanding hostess, entertainer and party planner. Sharon loved a good birthday party and knew her way around a piece of birthday cake with plenty of frosting and a dip of ice cream. She will also be fondly remembered by a generation or so of her nieces and nephews for the family-famous chocolate fountain which adults and kids alike enjoyed! Sharon always knew the best route to the McDonalds or Hardees for some playground time and a snack. She took great pleasure as she and Daryl combined their efforts to teach Bible School to the children of the church. Sharon will likely be remembered in her most notable role as “Captain Pooky” with her faithful companion “Flappy the Seagull.” On Sharon’s “watch” all the four-legged friends were loved too. At dinner time there was generally a small herd gathered around her chair, each knowing that they too would be soon dining with everyone else. It was all these things and more that made her the “sweet spirit” she was and special to each of us. Both Sharon and Daryl’s families played a primary role in supporting Sharon throughout her illness. They were present, they lifted-up prayers, and provided comfort and encouragement to Sharon and Daryl both. Sharon will be missed by us all. Sharon’s Family Sharon was the daughter of the late Mr & Mrs Rufus (Lillian) Kennedy, In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Milton Kennedy and Geneva Cole, nieces Angela Cole and great nieces Gerri Kennedy, and Brandy Puitt; and nephew Kevin Kennedy. She is survived by her husband, Daryl, nieces Michaela Borum (daughters Kim (Darren,) Savannah (Tommy,) and Caitlin (Ransom;)) Theresa Reckling (Chad, and sons Zachary and Sam;) Chong Kennedy (daughters Michelle (Richard) and Shannon, and son David;) Jacque Roberts (sons Nick (Lisa,) Nate, and Ben;) Richelle Simpson (John, and daughters Perrin (Michael) and Jamie;) and nephews Courtney Cole (Donita and sons Jason (Ashley) and Ryan (Bela;)) and John Kennedy (son Ryan). In addition she is survived by several great, great, great nieces and nephews. Daryl’s family Sister in laws Carol Morse and Vi Morse, Nephews Darin Morse (Jennifer, and daughter Megan and son Trent;) Chris Morse (Jill and sons Austin and Brandon (Jessica;)) Scott Morse (daughter Alexis (Jesse,) and son Adam;) Cynthia Clemans (son Brian (Ashley.) Honorary pallbearers will be the Journeys Sunday School Class. Throughout the years and especially through Sharon’s illness they have been a source of strength and sustaining prayer. In memory of Sharon we suggest memorial donations in lieu of flowers.
