Kathryn Dye

Mrs. Kathryn entered into rest on January 24, 2024, and enjoyed 89 years of life. Kathryn was the wife of the late William B. Dye and owner of Outdoor Equipment Company. Mrs. Kathryn’s first devotion was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Family, and businesswoman. Kathryn was born in Stapleton, Ga. on October 10, 1934, Daughter to Lake and Emmie Mae Williams. Kathryn loved her time being raised in Jefferson County, but always desired that some young gentleman would sweep her away to a new life, well that gentleman (Billy) only lived a few miles away and off they went. Kathryn and Bill operated their family business for 63 years creating a wonderful life for their family. Kathryn was a leader and willing to step up whether it was business, family or her church. Kathryn was the matriarch of her family, and you could always count on her to pull everyone together for a meal, reunion, gathering or church function. “We are family” was her favorite saying, and she meant it. Kathryn loved to cook, garden and travel with Bill once they retired. She will be forever missed with her grace, uplifting words, faithfulness, and loving heart. Kathryn was a lifelong member of Burns United Methodist church, where she was active as trustee, treasurer, and grounds committee. She loved her church and her church family. Kathryn’s kids were blessed to have her as a mom and a faithful wife of 66 years. She leaves behind her devoted daughter Denise and Billy Gamblin, sons Steve and Becky, Vic and Tammy, Grandkids; Stephen and Christy Dye, Chet and Michelle Dye, Kelly Dye, Christopher and Holly Gamblin, Patrick and Haylee Gamblin, Victoria and Curt Collins, Alex and Mary Dye and Wesley Dye, Nick and Eli, ten great grandkids, brothers Billy and Darla Williams, Bruce and Collen Williams, sister-in-law Janice Williams and Emily Rabun. In addition to her beloved Bill, she is preceded in death by her brother Don Williams and brother-in-law Joe Rabun. The funeral Service will be held Monday January 29, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Burns Memorial Methodist Church 2372 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, Ga. 30906 with pastor John Donaldson officiating. The family will receive Friends and Family one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Avera, Ga. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Kathryn’s Grandsons, Stephen, Chet, Christopher, Patrick, Alex, and Wesley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Burns Memorial Methodist Church.
