Helen Laverne Morgan

Hephzibah - Helen Lavrene Morgan, 82, of Hephzibah, Wife of the late Wilbur “Tuck” Morgan entered in to rest peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. Mrs. Morgan was a long time homemaker, who never seemed to tire of keeping her household in perfect running order, and making a home cooked meal from scratch every night for her loving family. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping and considered it to be a great way to get exercise from all the walking she did while doing it. She enjoyed watching Gunsmoke, loved listening to and watching Elvis in one of his many movies. She was an avid gardener and loved her ferns and roses. She was a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist and enjoyed making home cooked meals for various church activities and events. She is survived by her daughter: Melissa Chavis (Tony); grandson: Lucas Chavis; sisters in law: Mary Galloway (Wally) and Delores “Puggy” McGlohon (Tommy). As well as several nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents: Julian McCorkle, Sr. and Elizabeth McCorkle; brothers: Julian McCorkle, Jr, and Thomas McCorkle. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to all the numerous doctors and nurses at Wellstar MCG Georgia Cancer Center, and Wellstar MCG Radiation Therapy Center, that helped Mrs. Morgan bravely fight her cancer for over a year, and most recently all the doctors and nurses in the MICU at Wellstar MCG Health where she had an extended stay. The family also wishes to thank the hospice nurses and aides: Deni, Joyce, Alicia and Joceyln, and the staff of MSA Hospice - who were so compassionate and caring for the short amount of time Mrs. Morgan was under their care. A graveside service will be held at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church November 30, 2024 at 12:00, noon, with Rev. David Stockton officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, 3965 Deans Bridge Road, Hephzibah, Georgia 30815, or to the Wellstar MCG Georgia Cancer Center. The family will receive friends on November 29, 2024 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, 2502 Richmond Hill Road, Augusta, Georgia 30906.
