Glennis Baxter "Glenn" Lay Jr.

Glennis (Glenn) Baxter Lay, Jr, 54, unexpectedly passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, August 10th. Glenn was a loving father, faithful friend, and a man who found peace on the water and in the woods. Glenn was born in Hollywood, FL. He graduated from Miramar High School in Florida and attended Eastfield College in Mesquite, Texas. Glenn grew up in Florida and travelled until he finally settled down in Hephzibah, GA after he met the love of his life, Susan. They had 2 beautiful daughters who were their pride and joy. Unfortunately, they lost Susan during Covid and Glenn was left to raise the girls on his own. Glenn fought his own health battles after Covid, but his main focus was to raise his girls and he worked very hard and made sure they had everything they ever needed. Glenn worked various jobs but also owned his own computer repair business. He loved working on and building computers and helping people who needed help with theirs. If you knew Glenn, you know if you couldn't find him, he was probably hunting, fishing or on the lake somewhere. He could always find peace on the water and in the woods. His dream was always to live near the water someday. If Glenn was not in the woods or on the water, then you could find him with an apron in the kitchen or outside at the grill or smoker creating amazingly delicious food, especially on holidays. Glenn loved to cook and try out new recipes for everyone to try. Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved girls, Elizabeth and Addison Lay of Hephzibah, GA. His ex-wife Elizabeth Stafford and his stepchildren, Haley, Cassidy and Zachary Stafford of Louisville, GA. His mother, Parmie Shaw Lay, of Evans, GA. His brother Joe Blanchard (Razia) Gulfport, MS. His mother-in-law Hilma Beisecker-Little of Memphis, TN. His brother in laws, Wes Little (Staci) of Lakeway, TX and Tim Little (Claire) of Memphis, TN and Doug Little Jr. (Sharon) of Kingsport, TN. His uncle Michael Shaw of Beech Mountain, NC along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Glenn also had his lifelong 'brothers', many who he grew up with and knew the majority of his life. They have always remained extremely close and have always been there for each other and they definitely have some stories they could tell about their lives growing up! His ‘brothers’ are: James (Jimmy) Harrison (April) of Pembroke, GA; Anthony (Tony) Galiana (Candice) of Copperas Cove, TX; Kenny Crawley of Waynesboro, GA; Gibby Waters of Brooklet, GA and Ryan Golden of Dearing, GA. Glenn is preceded in death by the love of his life, Susan Little Lay, his sister Hope Shaw Lay, his father Glennis Baxter Lay, Sr (Bick) and his father-in-law Doug Little, Sr. The funeral service will be at Berlin Church in Hephzibah, GA on Saturday, August 22nd. Visitation will be an hour before the service from 11am – 12pm. The service will start at 12:00 p.m. A private burial with family will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe account has been set up for Elizabeth and Addison.
