Clifford R. Pope Blythe, GA – Clifford Ree Pope, 53, cherished husband and soulmate of Jodi Chesnut Pope went to his heavenly home on Saturday, November 9, 2024. In addition to his wife, Clifford leaves his children: son, Austin and wife Alex, daughter, Carli and partner Cody, and daughter, Josi Grace; as well as his grandchildren, Holli, Elliot, Hayden, Brennan, and Holden; and “the girls” Dolly, Joy and Georgia. Clifford was predeceased by his father Robert “Bob” Pope and mother and stepfather, Stella Marie and Floyd Thigpen, as well as his beloved Grandmother, Frances Jenkins. He is survived by his siblings, Mark Pope (Geri), Robin Butler (Harold), Pam Murphey (Steve), and Floyd Thigpen (Angie), and a host of nieces and nephews, and many close friends. Our Clifford was larger than life, his personality filled every room he was in and his love poured out and hugged you to him whether you were in his embrace or hundreds of miles away. Clifford met Jodi 30 thirty years ago, and knew she was his one. They started their family and Clifford’s world expanded. His children were his pride and joy. He was never happier than when they were with him. Their family was blessed with many four-legged members, and Clifford’s dedication to them was only matched by that of his love of family. In the last several years grandchildren came, and their family expanded. Jodi and Clifford’s home is filled with the raucous energy of a large family, and he thrived in its glow. Clifford spoke to family and friends nearly daily and relied on those relationships to help him through the many trials he faced. His strength in the face of adversity, a reminder to all that even when life is at its worse you persevere. Please join us for a Celebration of life to be held Saturday, November 23, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Blythe Library, 526 Railroad Ave., Blythe, GA, with Pastor Josh Caines officiating. In remembrance of Clifford’s love of the Georgia Bulldogs please come in your best Bulldog colors. The game will be on. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to “Old Fella Burke County Animal Rescue” or “The Blythe Library” in his name.
